Today we’re going to be taking a look at how you can download clips from Twitch using the Twitch Clip Downloader tool. This tool allows you to download any clip from any stream that is being broadcast on Twitch. We will be showing you how this program works on Windows, Mac and Linux so there won’t be any issue if you want to use the program on a different operating system.
1. Downloading and Installing the Twitch Clip Downloader
To download clips you need to use the Twitch Clip Downloader, a handy tool that’s available for free on the Twitch website. You can download the Twitch Clip Downloader here . After you’ve installed the Twitch Clip Downloader on your computer, you can get started with downloading clips. How to use the Program
Before you begin, you need to make sure that you open WebGL eyes so that the program can display the correctly scaled images. You can do this by clicking on the WebGL button ( is a blue triangle) when you start the program. Once the program displays the correct scaled image, press the Download All Game Clips button to view the entire video file.
It is important to save the Video file to your harddrive because the tool deletes the entire video after 5 minutes so you don't want the tool messing up your hard drive. It will only delete the first 10 minutes of the video so keep that file.
Once you’ve saved the video file, press the Download Video button to download the file to you harddrive. It’s possible to download more than one video since each file is only limited to 30 seconds in length so keep that in mind when viewing the files.

Step 4: Download your media to your computer
Now that you have your media downloaded to your harddrive, it’s time to open it up and play it!
Head over to any of the following functions of the file on your computer. First is the "download player" which will allow you to download the specified files by the number that appears right before each clip. (This may vary depending on the software you’re using.)

Next you have to make sure you can play the file. Most media players work well with WebGL, including:
VLC: You can download the VLC player here.
vlcopen: You can download the vlcopen player here.
FlashDevelop: You can download the FlashDevelop player here.
2. How to get the URL of a clip you want to download
There’s a quick and easy way to get the URL of a specific video on YouTube. Go to YouTube.com and search for the video you want to get the URL for.You can then copy and paste the URL of the video to your clipboard.
Next, we need to create an app. If you haven’t done this yet, you will need to install Visual Studio Code and then run it.
Now, open up your VS Code and create a new file inside of the app. name the file whatever you want. mine is StreamClipDownloader.json. Inside of the file, you will want to add an input field of the type video URL and a button to the bottom with the following code:
Save this file and let’s create what we are going to download.
This line tells line 1490 of code that this file is a script. When you open the file you will be able to select a text file. Now, you can type in a URL for a specific video on YouTube that you want to clip. Changing the text to the URL will make it click on the video when it is clicked.
Prior to running this app, we need to tell Windows that it is run from the command prompt. Run the following line of code:
This line of code is searching every video on YouTube for the kat.vbs and attempting to download it. If it cannot find the file, it will attempt to download it in a loop. You are done adding this to your app.
Now that we have an app, let’s get it to execute when the command prompt is opened. Run the following line of code:
The first part, {shell:command} is not really necessary but it looks nice when you are adding additional program parameters to your app. The second part of the script is responsible for actually downloading the video.
