Match times come under the spotlight

AFL Tasmania has again raised the possibility of a night preliminary final this year.

League officials say night finals are popular with fans and help avoid time clashes with other matches.

This Saturday's semi-finals will see Clarence host Launceston at Bellerive, https://www.goldengooseshoesit.com/ while North Hobart heads north to face Devonport.

AFL Tasmania's Trent Bartlett says the following week's preliminary final could be played under lights at York Park in Launceston.

"At this stage we're still just discussing it, we'll work our way through it," he said.

"But there could be a possibility of a night final being played next week depending on the results of the Clarence and Launceston game."

However the scheduling of the finals has again drawn criticism.

The knock-out semi-final between Devonport and North Hobart is set to begin at 1:00pm AEST, an hour earlier Golden Goose Sale than usual.

The Demons' Ollie di Venuto says the early start will affect his team's preparation.

"One o'clock's a bit different but we might have to catch the six o'clock bus up or something like that," he said.

"Maybe three o'clock probably would have been a bit better but you know that's just the way it is and deal with it and get on with it."
